Built from the Ground Up
HBS Group traces its origins to Chikmagalur, Karnataka — a region better known for its coffee estates than its commerce. In 2004, H B Sudharshan, a PWD Class 1 contractor with a reputation for rigorous project delivery, established Concshade Construction Pvt. Ltd. The mandate was simple: build infrastructure that lasts, and build it with integrity.
What followed was a methodical expansion. Recognising that infrastructure quality is only as strong as its supply chain, the group vertically integrated — adding stone crushing units and brick manufacturing operations that now serve both internal projects and the broader construction market in Karnataka.
In the years that followed, Mr. Sudharshan extended his philosophy of principled enterprise into new sectors: luxury hospitality through JW Marriott Chikmagalur, and precision manufacturing through Surya Panel — a patent-holding HDF laminate flooring manufacturer. Today, HBS Group operates six companies across three verticals, employing over 2,000 people.

Under his leadership, HBS Group has grown from a focused contracting operation into a multi-vertical conglomerate without losing the values that defined its founding. He is known for his hands-on approach, his commitment to eco-conscious operations, and his emphasis on long-term capability.
